Do I need a referral to see a physio?

Anyone can see a physiotherapist without a referral. However, if you have a WorkCover injury or wish to claim through Medicare's EPC program or DVA, you will need a referral from your GP.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time to complete some simple paperwork. Useful things to bring if you have them include:

X-rays, Ultrasounds, MRIs etc. including the report if you have it.
Any referrals or Operation Reports from doctors relating to your condition.
Clothes that will allow the physio to easily observe the affected area on your body eg. shorts if you have a sore knee.
Your health fund card (if you have one). You do not need to bring this if you're a Workers Compensation, DVA or Medicare patient.
Optimism! - Nearly all of our patients have less pain after their first session, and coming in with a positive attitude always makes it easier for us do get great results for you!

Is Bulk Billing Physio available?

We can't bulk bill everyone, but for certain cases where a patient (usually a pensioner) has been referred by their doctor for a care plan, yes, we do bulk bill!
We are one of the only physio practices in Newcastle to bulk bill Medicare's EPC program, meaning you can get up to 5 physio sessions each calendar year without having to pay a cent. We understand that not everyone can afford the treatment they need, so we offer this arrangement as an act of goodwill to help those with chronic conditions who need a helping hand.
Standard visits are not bulk-billed, however we can swipe your health fund card through HICAPS so you will only have to pay a part of the full cost. WorkCover and DVA injuries are also bulk billed.

Are you registered with NDIS?

Yes! All of our physios are registered with NDIA/NDIS and can help with most physical issues. If you are unsure whether we can help for a certain condition, feel free to call and ask to speak to one of our physios in more detail.

Are you open late or on weekends?

Yes, we are happy to provide physio services on Saturday mornings from 9am - 1pm. We also have late physio appointments after business hours through the week to accommodate those who can't make regular times.
Our opening hours are:
Weekdays: 9.00am - 6.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am - 1.00pm
Later appointments may also be available on request.

How much does a Physio session cost?

Prices as at May 2018:
Initial Consultation - $85.00
Standard Consultation - $72.00
Extended Consultation (1hr) - $121
These prices are up to $30 cheaper than other physio practices in Newcastle!
Note: If you are referred for a WorkCover or DVA injury, have a Medicare EPC/CDM care plan or NDIS physio funding, your sessions will be bulk-billed, meaning you won't have to pay anything.

Can I use my Health Fund?

Yes - At Fix It Physiotherapy we are registered with HICAPS, which means if you have a health fund, you can swipe your card to instantly claim your benefits. We are a preferred provider for Bupa, Medibank and HCF meaning you pay less per visit if you're in one of these funds! For any gap payment or if you are not covered by a health fund, you can pay by Cash, Bank Card, Visa or Mastercard.

Cancellation Policy

Fix It Physiotherapy may charge a fee of $30 if you don't come to your scheduled appointment. We get quite busy and physio appointments are in high demand so please consider that someone is waiting in line for your spot! Adverse circumstances will be excused but please call to let us know whenever possible.
