Waterproof Casts for Fractures
Why Get A Waterproof Cast?
If you fracture your arm/wrist/hand, unfortunately you’ll need to immobilise the area to allow the bone to heal. The most common ways to do this are with a plaster of paris cast which is chunky and not able to get wet, or a fibreglass/polyester cast that is waterproof. Public hospitals like the John Hunter can do a plaster of paris cast for free, though you’ll have to wait for several hours in emergency to be seen. We offer an alternative to the wait, with a waterproof cast that can be booked in at a time that’s convenient to you, for the price of $155. Some of this fee can be rebated if you have private health cover with extras included.

What Kind Of Fractures Do You Work With?
We currently do short-arm casts for distal radius fractures mostly. We are also able to do casts for scaphoid fractures if they have been assessed as non-surgical by a Dr.
We unfortunately don’t do long-arm casts for fractures high in the radius or above the elbow.
Any fractures in the lower leg can generally be managed with a boot so we don’t usually do leg casts.
